LAST BEST SUNDAY

When two local toughs beat up Joseph, an 18-year-old Mexican-American high schooler, he exacts a painful revenge and then flees to a supposedly empty suburban house. To his dismay, he finds a high school acquaintance, Lolly, at home for the weekend while her parents are gone. What follows is a harrowing, tightly wound story in which the two adolescents slowly peel back the skin of the racial and sexual barriers between them.
